Blue Feet at First Light

At first light on Isla Isabel, a pair of blue-footed boobies stands near the edge of the colony. During breeding season, colonies like this can gather several hundred individuals, with pairs forming and holding small territories close to one another.

Much of their behavior happens on the ground. Courtship, nesting, and pair bonding all take place here, often just meters apart across the colony.
